Debra Winstead
Debra Winstead combines over three decades of teaching experience with a love of learning new things. Writing online is currently a new arena for her, but she has taught writing and composition to thousands of high school students.
She holds a Master of Arts degree in English education, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, National Board Certification and certification in gifted education. She has taught at all levels of high school, including nine years in International Baccalaureate English and Advanced Placement English.
Although officially "retired," she returns to teaching from time to time when she gets to missing the classroom. In the meantime, she writes for a number of sites and private clients.Debra delights in family, friends and all things vintage. Her interests include, but they are not limited to genealogy, antiques, reading, taking photographs of her family, and traveling in space as well as time. She recently discovered a graveyard ninety miles from her home, zeroed into it on Google Maps (not literally!), hopped into her car and within an hour and a half was driving through a hayfield to find her great-great-great-grandparents' graves. All this by 8:30 in the morning.
Another joy came when she did the yearbook for her niece's, grandniece's and grandnephew's elementary school. She loved hearing," Hey, Aunt Debbie," as she walked through with her camera, echoing from dozens of little people. If she had her life to live over again, she'd find time to teach the little ones, too.
